Vaishnavas CARE Goal: To offer support, comfort, guidance and educational instruction for patients, family members, caregivers, and those who wish to learn the art of hospice caregiving.
Vaishnavas CARE Mission: Vaishnavas C.A.R.E. (Counseling, Assistance, Resource, and Education for the Terminally ill and those in Need) is an educational program and support system for patients and loved ones facing acute illness, longterm, chronic illnesses and end-of-life situations.
We especially seek to improve the quality of life for terminally ill patients and family members within the Vaishnava faith through our educational website, Online Hospice Course for those faced with Caregiving responsibilities of a family member or friend. This course is also for those who wish to learn basic concepts, skills and the duties of a Hospice Caregiver. We also offer In-person one OR two day seminars, when possible. In addition, our book, The Final Journey — Complete Hospice Care for Departing Vaishnavas –Torchlight Publishing (Updated, 2nd Edition) has helped thousands of families. It has been"mandatory reading" for the nursing staff at a Catholic Inpatient Hospice facility in California for over 15 years.
Vaishnavas CARE provides one-on-one communication via Skype, phone calls and emails, with individual and/or family conferences when needed. In addition, Vaishnavas CARE offers emotional and spiritual support from our trained and professional Vaishnavas CARE volunteers, including our licensed, professional Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, and Grief Counselors.
Although geared toward a specific population within the Vaishnava faith, we also invite anyone, of any belief system, to take advantage of our services if you feel we can be of assistance. We are honored to assist you in any way possible. Thank you!
Vaishnavas CARE Vision:
anta-kale ca mam eva smaranmuktva kalevaram
yah prayati sa mad bhavam yati nasty atra samsayah (Bg 8.5)
“And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body remembering
Me alone at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt. “
Vaishnava scripture teaches that the human form of life is a special opportunity to prepare oneself and others toward the above mentioned end, where an individual soul has the rare chance to return back to his or her original Home with the Lord. As stated in the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, this material world is a temporary existence of birth, death, old age and disease for the eternal soul. As pure souls we belong not to this world of repeated birth and death but to the world of eternal bliss and knowledge in service to Lord Krishna.
For some, serious challenges may be present when facing the end of life. Preparing for one’s imminent death is a crucial time for the terminally ill patient. In a supportive environment, we as trained volunteer caregivers, as well as medical professionals, address the physical decline of the hospice patient along with the emotional upheaval that may arise from one’s imminent departure. In addition, we address any “anticipatory grief” issues of the family members prior to their loved ones death.
In this way, with a strong support system, our hope is for every individual who connects with Vaishnavas CARE to reach the long-awaited goal of a peaceful departure from this world and a swift journey back Home, back to Godhead. For those left behind who are grieving their loss of a loved one or friend, we also provide various types of Grief Support up to 13 months after a loved one's death.
